Rest Area of the Future

Helping DOTs transition into the electric car world.

DOTs have unique real estate that can provide travelers a place to power up while visiting the rest area of the future.

We see the rest areas growing into super-charged WAWAs with food courts, restrooms, dog parks, campus-wide Wi-Fi and more.

Imagine 200 cars and 300 trucks all charging during the pit stop. The DOTs would be replacing lost fuel tax revenue with charging revenue that could be produced on their land through a combination of solar power, wind, and utility power.

Tesla has made electric cars a household name, and now even Mercedes-Benz has made unparalleled announcements of luxury all-electric vehicles.

By being able to charge them overnight at home, electric cars offer plenty of convenience.

However, electric car owners can find long-distance drives challenging because of a possible lack of charging stations along the route. Because of this, many limit their traveling to in-town locations.

Several companies have started developing charging sites, but in order to make business models work they target dense areas with high income.

The federal government has announced that they hope to improve this. Thus, InLine is focusing resources and leveraging DOT relationships to change this for markets that have not seen the necessary evolution to provide electric car owners what they need.

For travelers, we want to provide the convenience of charging along interstates; for locals, adequate coverage in smaller communities.
