InLine is seeking an experienced and driven Underground Utilities Construction Foreman to lead field crews installing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signals, underground conduit systems, fiber optics, and roadway and bridge lighting. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside crews installing underground conduit for electrical and fiber-optic networks.
- Install pole structures and ITS devices, including WWDS, DMS, CCTV, and RVD systems.
- Support traffic-signal construction, including foundations, poles, cabinets, signal heads, and wiring.
- Install roadway and bridge lighting systems.
- Read and interpret construction plans, electrical diagrams, and specifications.
- Coordinate trenching, conduit placement, cable pulling, and pole installation.
- Maintain compliance with trench-safety requirements and MUTCD traffic-control standards.
- Communicate with project managers, inspectors, and subcontractors to keep work on schedule.
- Track daily production, materials, and crew performance while troubleshooting field challenges.
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading crews in underground utility construction.
- Experience with ITS, traffic signals, or roadway lighting is a strong plus but is not required.
- Ability to read and execute construction plans and specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience operating excavators, trenchers, skid steers, augers, or similar equipment.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
- OSHA certification or willingness to obtain it through provided training.
Schedule & Expectations
- Full-time, in-person position based in Theodore, Alabama.
- Potential overtime, occasional weekend and night shifts, and travel as required.
- Travel is typically limited to one-week intervals, with crews home on weekends.
- Outdoor work in varying conditions on active construction sites.
- Day-shift availability and approximately 25% travel are required; night-shift availability is preferred.
- Employment screening includes background, drug, and DMV checks.
